Students who want to attend a CAAHEP accredited school in Colorado and earn a certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography have one choice as of 2014. CAAHEP is The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The program is offered by the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, and students can earn a certificate in general sonography. Though there is the single ultrasound tech program, the Department of Radiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is well respected for its quality in the nation. The ultrasound technician program requirements provide didactic and clinical education and include classroom and laboratory instruction and training and hands-on scanning experience. Upon completion of the program in ultrasound technology, students have the knowledge and skills needed to pass the certification exams in gynecological, abdominal, obstetrics and superficial structure ultrasound offered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Many employers prefer certified sonographers. Certified sonographer have better job opportunities and earn a higher ultrasound technician pay.

Salaries and Career Outlook for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Colorado

The statistics from the last federal employment survey in May of 2012 indicated there were 770 Diagnostic Medical Sonographers employed in the state of Colorado. The report was provide by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The average salary for ultrasound technicians was an impressive $75,570. This is over $9,000 more than the mean annual wage for all of the U.S. and makes it one of the top five states paying the highest salaries for employed sonographers. The number of jobs in the state is expected to grow only moderately at 30.6 percent between 2010 and 2020. By 2020, the projected number of sonography positions is 1,170.

Consider the possibilities of student life at Colorado University:

1.The government of Colorado College is intended to make the life of its students interesting and active. The life at college does not include only lectures and seminars. College provides a wide range of different extracurricular activities that take into consideration all students interests and wishes.

2.College has its student union that is aimed at enhancement of student social and recreational life. College union is very active, its purpose is to make the process of obtaining the education effective, fun and interesting. The members are always ready to help student who have some problems of different character.

3.Everybody is allowed to become a member of the union. The main condition is to be active, creative and ready-to-help person.

4.Moreover, students will never feel bored during their classes. The process is organized so that every student could take part in lecture or seminar. They can listen to lecturer and take part in discussion. All teachers and other staff of the college are interested in making the process of education easy and pleasant. The main objective is to avoid dull and stressful classes.

5.College government pays special attention to student physical development. It has good sport facilities and its own sport support team.

6.Colorado College provides a dormitory for those students who want to live on-campus. The dorm is not very expensive and comfortable for students. There are some rules to follow. But, young people are able to set their own standards within their living hall.
